Bishop Richard Lennon announced the appointment of Rev. Eric Orzech as Pastor of the Shrine
Church of St. Stanislaus, effective July 1, 2012.
On that date, Rev. Orzech assumed the office of pastor after
106 years of pastoral leadership of the parish by two Franciscan provinces, that of the Sacred Heart and,
more recently, the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
A son of Ss. Peter and Paul Parish in Garfield Hts., Rev. Orzech most recently served as administrator of
St. John Cantius Parish in Tremont. Having been ordained in 1993 he has served as parochial vicar at St. Gabriel,
St. Theresa, St. Columbkille, and Parochial Vicar and Administrator at St. Bernadette.
Aside from his diocesan duties, Rev. Orzech also serves as the national Vice President of the
Polish-American Priest's Association having served previously as its President. He also serves as
Chaplain to numerous local religious and Polish organizations.
Fr. Joseph Bożek hails from Pilzno, a city located in southeastern Poland not far from Tarnów.
His parents are John (deceased) and Mary, and has three sisters: Ann, Barbara and Agnes, all with their own families.
All three of his sisters are school teachers.
Since his childhood Fr. Joseph has enjoyed participating in all sorts of sports including soccer,
swimming and skiing, all which he would like to continue to enjoy while in Cleveland!
As a young man he became an altarboy at the Carmelite church, an act which fostered his vocation to
become a priest serving God and His people.
He attended the seminary in Rzeszow and was ultimately ordained by Bishop Casimir Gorny on May 13, 1999.
In Poland he began his priestly work in Chełmno, Głogowa, Gorlica and Nienadowiec until he was s
ent here to work at the Shrine Church of St. Stanislaus in Cleveland!
He is grateful to Fr. Eric for having invited him and he looks forward to working with the parishioners.
His hope is to strengthen the faith of the youth as well as all those who come to our church. Finally,
he asks for us to pray for him that he might be successful in his mission of leading others to Christ as he has
been called to do.
