We have dubbed the period of May 8, 2003 to May 8, 2004 the ‘Stanislavian Year’ during which time we
commemorated our holy patron by means of special events throughout this period.
Some of the events commemorating St. Stanislaus during this special year are described below.
Relic of St. Stanislaus
The year
commenced with a Mass and ceremony which included the formal translation of the relic of St. Stanislaus
given to our parish in 1969 by Karol Cardinal Wojtyła, Bishop of Krakow, now, His Holiness, John Paul II.

Four Eagles Award
That same day we initiated the tradition of The Four Eagles Award, the name derived from the legend
recalling the four eagles which protected the remains of the martyred Stanislaus. The award will be
bestowed each year around the feast of St. Stanislaus to an outstanding individual or association
within our community.
The first Four Eagles Award was presented to Ben Stefanski II at a banquet at the Polish American
Cultural Center in Honor of John Paul II.

St. Stanislaus Birthday Concert
St. Stanislaus Church hosted an ensemble of Polish choirs from Buffalo, New York (Polish Singers Alliance
of America District IX) in a grand concert celebrating our patron saint. The concert consisted of sacred music performed by various
choirs, including the piece de resistance, Piotr Górecki's "St. Stanislaus Oratorio," which the
Buffalo performed in Kraków later in 2003.
